Search Help - Site Search
Site Search that will search the entire site including the Products section and Products Search that will search the Products section for a specific product. |
Using Site Search
You will find
Site Search in the top right corner of the site.
In the search field you can type search words to make a simple query or narrow a query to make an advanced search using search operators. Please see the table below with search operators and examples.
Search Operators
The search engine
is not case-sensitive, in other words there is no difference in writing Dako and dako.
Search operators can be combined (e.g. “word1 word2” +word3 –word4). + and – should be typed immediately before the search word (no space between symbol and word).
The table below shows the search operators, their action, and examples.
| Search Operator | Action | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Default operator: you need not use any special symbols | Lists documents containing one or more of the words | instrument support Lists documents containing either instrument or support or both |
| +word | Only lists documents containing the word | +instrument +support Lists documents containing both instrument and support |
| -word | Excludes documents containing the word | instrument -support Lists documents containing instrument, but not support |
| Phrase operator: enclose the phrase with double quotation marks: “word1 word2 ...“ | Specifies that words should be adjacent | “instrument support” Lists documents containing the exact phrase instrument support |
Search Results
When you make a
search, the search engine will return the results sorted with the “best” matches listed at the top;
the search engine automatically weights your query terms based on their statistical uniqueness. Common
terms, such as “shall”, get a much lower weighting than less frequently occurring terms, such as e.g.
the phrase “tumor suppressor”. The more terms matched in your query, the higher the ranking.
The search results are presented in two sections, “Site Search Results” and “Product Search Results”.
“Site Search Results" lists pages from the site itself, typically pages of a general or informative nature.
"Product Search Results" lists specific Dako products, and this is where you will find information such as product descriptions, package inserts, etc.
